It’s been a while…

But I’m still here – alive and kicking. Writing is up and down (as it always is) and I’m about to have to put the project on hold for a few months. I’m taking time off of work. I’m doing something different.

I’m going to learn a bunch of languages. Not French, not German, not Italian – but Bash, Ruby, Javascript and SEQL.

I’ve been interested in technology for some time. I’m the kind of person who wants to know how things work. I take things apart and put them back together again – simply to see what’s inside, to see how one thing connects to another.

When you do this with a computer, you only really see a small piece of the puzzle. The motherboard, RAM, hard drives and wireless cards each perform their function, but a lot of how a computer works cannot be seen. Though I had seen many the innards of a device I still had burning questions regarding software and operation systems. What is a kernel? How does an operating system even come to be? How is software made?

So, I was incredibly pleased to hear that my application to study a course concerning Software Development was accepted just last month. The course begins in late July. Full time. Four months.

My writing will undoubtedly suffer, but here’s to hoping that the course leads me on to a path that provides me with more time to write.
